New Year, New Style Trends

Starting a New Year means new goals, a new mindset, and new fashion trends! Every year, I love seeing what new trends appear. So many are already popping out for 2021 as different versions of 2020 styles and some totally new ones for this year. Keep reading to see how to style some of my favorite fashion trends for the New Year!

Outfit 1:

Wearing a top with a unique neckline can add the perfect amount of detail to an outfit. I love turtlenecks, sweetheart necklines, and the square neck trend that I'm wearing here. Pairing this with mom jeans and white sneakers is the perfect outfit for a day out with friends.

Outfit 2:

Flare and wide-legged jeans are SO in for this year. I love the cropped flare style because it can be worn with so many different outfits. Add a graphic band tee and some white booties with flare jeans for an edgy look or style like this picture with a leopard print long sleeve and a statement belt for the perfect school outfit.

Outfit 3:

Animal prints are here to stay for 2021! Zebra, leopard, and cow print are trending for the New Year and are perfect statement pieces. Whether it is an animal print skirt, shoes, or coat, it will add flair to any plain outfit. I love styling my leopard print coat with band tees, bodysuits, and plain cropped tank tops.

Outfit 4:

Waffle knit and corded crews are my favorite comfy piece. Loungewear is still so big for the New Year and this style adds more texture to an at-home outfit. You can wear waffle knit in a matching set or crop a shirt like this one to wear with leggings or jeans. I love adding layered necklaces and trendy gold jewelry to my simple outfits to finish them off with some style.

I hope that these New Year styles give you some outfit inspiration! These trends are so easy to recreate and wear for your new semester, day out with friends, or staying at home.

End-of-Year Athleisure Looks

As we head into the New Year, many of us may be thinking about our goals for the upcoming year. Whether you’re planning to focus on academics, hobbies, or fitness, you can look stylish and comfortable doing it all. Athleisure has made a major comeback over the past few months and is the perfect style to bring into the New Year. I am going to share some of my favorite athleisure looks that are super easy to recreate!

Outfit 1:

Monochrome, looks like this one will never go out of style and it's super easy to put together. Just add a black bralette, to some simple black leggings, and throw on a denim jacket! Next, I finished the look with a zebra bucket hat to tie together the color scheme and add a little pop of pattern.

Outfit 2:

Vintage-styled sports bras and jeans are another great athleisure combination. I just paired this adorable Nike sports bra with my ripped jeans. I then finished off this sporty look with my white Air Forces 1s.

Outfit 3:

Pairing more formal shirts with leggings can be a great athleisure look with the right accessories. Large chains and heavier jewelry have been a prominent trend this winter, and make the perfect addition to elevating your leggings and other athleisure wear. I also styled my hair half-up, in a clip, to make this outfit seem more put together. French braids and other hairstyles can add another level of detail to athleisure looks. Sticking with the neutral tones, I threw on a black oversized denim jacket to finish my outfit.

 Outfit 4:

This last look is one of my favorite athleisure outfits because of how comfortable it is! Pairing a baggy graphic tee with athletic shorts is always a great go-to outfit. Band tees and other vibrant tee shirts, like this tie-dye one, ensure that your look will still be interesting even if it is simple. I made sure to add a matching scrunchie and finish off the look with my favorite platform converse.

I hope these cute and comfortable athleisure looks help inspire you to view your athletic clothes in a new way. As we head into the New Year, remember that your simple closet staples can be styled into super cute and put-together outfits!

Effortless NYE Outfits

Although this year wasn’t what I had expected, one thing is for sure, I still love my fashion! With the end of the year almost here, let’s end it in style! Here are three of my favorite looks that I’ve put together to help you ring in the New Year.

Outfit 1:

IMG_1743.JPG

I’m absolutely obsessed with this first look. Talk about going out with a bang! For this look, grab your favorite pair of ripped jeans and your best basic bodysuit. To top it off, add your favorite stylish booties and some fun accessories. I love that this look is simple, but it still makes a statement. This is perfect for celebrating the new year with your friends even if it’s a small, at-home celebration this year!

Outfit 2:

Animal prints have definitely been a fashion favorite of mine this year! With that being said, of course, one of my NYE outfits had to include an animal print. One of my favorite animal prints is cheetah print. For this look, choose any animal print dress and add some fun booties or heels. If you want to accessorize this outfit, try adding some fun jewelry. I always go for a pair of statement gold hoops. This outfit will for sure make you the standout of your NYE event.

Outfit 3:

This last look is the perfect balance of not too dressy, but not too casual. Anyone else loving the leather skirt trend? For this last outfit, I decided to pair a simple black leather skirt with one of my favorite sweaters. You could also achieve this look with any basic color sweater. For a more casual look, throw on your favorite flats, or you can dress it up with some heeled booties.

I know I’m a little sick of wearing sweats at-home, so any excuse to dress up I’m all in! Even if you’re celebrating the New Year a little differently this year, take advantage of the opportunity to throw on a cute outfit and take some fun pictures with your friends or family! I hope these outfits help inspire your NYE wardrobe this year! See you all in 2021!

2020's Fall/Winter Accessory Trends

Hey girl, it's time to talk about accessories! Are you an accessory type of girl? If you're not, you should be! There are so many fun accessory trends going around right now and so I’ve compiled a list of a few of my favorite trends that you can try for the 2020 fall and winter season!

Flat-Brimmed Hats:

If you haven’t seen these eye-catching hats all over Pinterest and fashion influencer's Instagram feeds, girl where have you been? At first, I’ll admit I wasn’t totally sold on these hats and I didn’t think I could pull them off. However, after seeing so many girls rock these hats I had no choice, but to fall in love with them too! Flat-brimmed hats are the perfect addition to your winter wardrobe because they are super versatile and can dress up any outfit as well!

Chelsea Boots:

Okay, when are black booties not in style? The correct answer is...never! Lately, I've been obsessed with the trending “Chelsea” style boots, but these are a little spin on your classic black bootie I swear. I love that they have a platform bottom that gives you a bit of an edgy look and the classic slip without a heel. It’s the perfect comfortable go-to shoe for the colder months, plus you can seriously pair them with any outfit.

Mini Shoulder Bags:

Next, is another trend I was unsure about at first: mini shoulder bags. I’ll admit it usually takes me a little while to hop on the bandwagon for these 90’s comebacks, but I’m slowly realizing what the hype is all about. I’m now obsessed! These bags just add SO much to any simple or classic outfit. My favorite is to style my go-to pair of straight leg or baggy jeans, any top (usually a baggy band tee, tight blouse top, or sweatshirt), and add a classic mini shoulder bag. It's so effortless and still stylish!

Hair Claw Clips:

Could these clips be any cuter?! The messy up-do has made a comeback and with these clips, you can still appear effortless and somehow just make any outfit look put together! Sadly with my long hair, it won’t all fit in a single hair clip, so these hairstyles don’t work the best on my hair. Still, I just can’t get enough of these hair claw clip hairstyles that every girl seems to be rocking right now!

Collared Shirts + Sweatshirts:

Oh. My. God. I can't explain how much I love this fall/winter trend, and yes I know what you are thinking, a collared shirt isn’t an accessory, Taiya. BUT, I’m counting it as an accessory anyway. I absolutely LOVE a good reason to wear a sweatshirt out and still being able to call it stylish. I’m also a HUGE fan of layering anything and everything I can for the colder months, so the look of adding collared shirts under sweatshirts and sweater vests is a no-brainer. It easily elevates a boring, old sweatshirt into an adorable, classy outfit. Simply add a mini shoulder bag to your collared shirt and sweatshirt combo, a hair claw clip, maybe even a Chelsea boot…and you are ready to rock any runway!

Thanks again for reading - that’s all the fall/winter accessory trends I have for you today! Which trends are you excited about and want to try out? If you haven't seen these trends already all over Pinterest and Instagram, hopefully, these accessories will give you some inspiration to style your colder weather looks!

Comfy, Cozy Holiday Looks

The holidays may look a little bit different this year while we're staying safe at home, but that doesn't mean we still can't wear cute things, right?! 90% of the time you will find me in loungewear, and even more so now since we're still in the middle of a pandemic. I'm here today to share a few comfy and cozy holiday looks to wear around the house this season and not feel embarrassed walking outside to grab the mail!

1 | MATCHING PAJAMA SETS

I'm so glad matching sets have become a trend again over the last year or two. For a while, it was trendy to wear mismatching sets around the house and to bed, but wearing a cute matching set just feels right too.

I'm personally not a huge fan of buying items that I might only wear once a year or a few times out of the season, therefore I love the idea of a matching set that can be used all winter long. Of course, this means finding pajamas that look holiday-ish and somewhat spirited but also won't look out of season once January and February come. It's even more fun when you can also get a set to wear with the whole fam!

2 | FLANNEL SHORTS + COZY CARDIGANS

Flannel shirts are a must-have staple in any girl's winter wardrobe. They are a piece that just never goes out of style, and you can find them almost anywhere! I've had a few for years that I just wear over and over again. There's also something that just feels free and cozy at the same time as wearing a sweater with shorts. Plus, I love all the fun prints and winter colors you can find them in now!

Today, I experimented with print mixing and paired mine with this silky lace trim cami. The red and the polka dots really give the look some extra holiday flare. Over the top of that, I added a cozy sherpa cardigan. They are insanely soft, cozy, and a great piece to take you through the chilly winter months. Even if you're not into the sherpa vibe, any oversized cardigan would work! I finished the look off by adding a chunky knit beanie for a fun, warm added touch!

3 | THERMAL LEGGINGS + PLUSH PULLOVERS

If you'll be spending time at home during the holidays, but also still want to feel cute and festive, get a pair of printed thermal leggings. It's a great time of year to change things up a bit instead of wearing your typical solid black! These also make such great gifts for others. There is also almost an endless amount of options you have when finding something to pair with your leggings. Any solid top that is either neutral or matches a color in the print will suffice! I always find any white top to be the easiest but went for a baby pink colored top to accent the baby pink in some of the tree's design.

I think plush is such a fun fabric for this time of year. It reminds me of sherpa, but yet it feels more like silk! It glides through your fingers so nicely and is a bit thinner. Lastly, I added some thick, fuzzy slippers, and a warm scarf to complete the look. All wonderful gift ideas that make outfits even cozier.

Thank you so much for tuning into today's post! Cheers to a wonderful holiday season!
