Comfy, Cozy Holiday Looks

The holidays may look a little bit different this year while we're staying safe at home, but that doesn't mean we still can't wear cute things, right?! 90% of the time you will find me in loungewear, and even more so now since we're still in the middle of a pandemic. I'm here today to share a few comfy, and cozy holiday looks to wear around the house this season, and not feel embarrassed by walking outside to grab the mail!

I'm so glad matching sets have become a trend again over the last year or two. For a while, it was trendy to wear mismatching sets around the house and to bed, but wearing a cute matching set just feels right too.

I'm personally not a huge fan of buying items that I might only wear once a year or a few times out of the season, therefore I love the idea of a matching set that can be used all Winter long. Of course, this means finding pajamas that look holiday-ish and somewhat spirited but also won't look out of season once January and February come. It's even more fun when you can also get set to wear with the whole fam!

Flannel shirts are a must-have staple in any girl's winter wardrobe. They are a piece that just never goes out of style, and you can find them almost anywhere! I've had a few for years that I just wear over and over again. There's also something that just feels free and cozy at the same time as wearing a sweater with shorts. Plus, I love all the fun prints and winter colors you can find them in now!

Today, I experimented with print mixing and paired mine with this silky lace trim cami. The red and the polka dots really give the look some extra holiday flare. Over the top of that, I added a cozy sherpa cardigan. They are insanely soft, cozy, and a great piece to take you through the chilly winter months. Even if you're not into the sherpa vibe, any oversized cardigan would work! I finished the look off by adding a chunky knit beanie for a fun, warm added touch!

If you'll be spending time at home during the holidays, but also still want to feel cute and festive, get a pair of printed thermal leggings. It's a great time of year to change things up a bit instead of wearing your typical solid black! These also make such great gifts for others. There is also almost an endless amount of options you have when finding something to pair with your leggings. Any sold top that is either a neutral, or matches a color in the print will suffice! I always find any white top to be the easiest but went for a baby pink colored top to accent the baby pink in some of the tree's design.

I think plush is such a fun fabric for this time of year. It reminds me of sherpa, but yet it feels more like silk! It glides through your fingers so nicely and is a bit thinner. Lastly, I added some thick, fuzzy slippers, and a warm scarf to complete the look. All wonderful gift ideas, that make outfits even cozier.

Thank you so much for tuning in to today's post! Cheers to a wonderful holiday season!

Holiday Season Haul

Black Friday is finally here! Check out your local Plato’s Closet for some awesome savings! Shopping is the best kind of therapy so I went to my local Plato’s Closet for some retail therapy. I picked out some of my favorite pieces to show you guys all of the cute clothing and accessories they have. Plato’s Closet should definitely be on your shopping list because there's no better way to save money and shop sustainably this holiday season.

Here’s a little dressing room haul reveal to show you all of my favorite pieces I found! The first thing I picked out was a gently used Metallica graphic tee. I’m always a sucker for a good graphic tee and this tee was slightly oversized on me which I absolutely love. They are so easy to style! You can style them as a lounge outfit with joggers or leggings or if you want to dress it up, throw on your favorite jeans and leather jacket and you’ve got a super fun yet edgy outfit. Graphic tees are a major staple to have for your closet because they are so comfy and versatile.

The next piece I got was this super cute distressed sweater. I especially love it because it has the perfect amount of frayed detail. Sweaters, of course, are a must for winter especially if you’re from somewhere cold like me. For the winter season, I especially love wearing lots of natural colors. While you’re out Black Friday shopping, be sure to keep an eye out for new staple sweaters to add to your closet!

This last look I put together is by far my favorite! I found the cutest jacket and paired it with the perfect black beanie. If you know me, you know I LOVE jackets! Half my closet is jackets so, boy oh boy, was I happy when I found this adorable sherpa cropped-jacket at Plato's Closet. There are so many amazing jacket trends this year so be on the lookout this week to snag a cute one on sale! I’ve also recently become a huge fan of winter hats and beanies so, of course, when I saw this super cute, classic black beanie I just had to have it!

Thanks for reading and happy shopping! Make sure to have fun & shop safely this holiday season.

Seasonal Staple Accessories

If you’re like a lot of my friends, now that Halloween is over you’re probably getting fully into the spirit of winter. As the weather cools down and the holidays approach, it’s time to start getting our wardrobe winter-ready too! I have been seeing so many cute accessories trending this season that I am so excited to wear as I transition into winter fashion. I am going to share a few of my favorite winter accessories and how I style them! Hopefully, you can take some inspiration from these outfits and adapt them to fit your style and climate!

Leather Jackets and Chelsea Boots

These are two staple items that everyone should have in their wardrobe this season. Leather jackets truly never go out of style and are super versatile. Pair your leather jacket with a simple dress, tights, and boots for a chic feminine look, or you can style it with jeans and a graphic tee for a polished everyday outfit. You can easily dress a leather jacket up or down depending on your shoe choice as well. I wore these Chelsea boots, which are another popular winter accessory, for a slightly more polished look. Chelsea boots are the perfect addition to your winter wardrobe because they are perfect for rainy weather and are super versatile as well!

Bucket Hats:

We have seen 90s fashion making a major comeback all year, everything from tennis skirts to small shoulder bags, and now, bucket hats! These cute little accessories are a major trend this fall and winter. I’ve seen so many different styles of bucket hats: simple black ones, fuzzy ones (perfect for cold weather), and fun patterned ones! Since there are so many styles available, they are an easy addition to your wardrobe. I recently got this adorable dinosaur one (really embracing my inner child) and a zebra print one! Staying consistent with the 90s inspiration, I paired my bucket hat with a white tennis skirt and an oversized sweater.

Bandanas/Hair Scarfs:

Bandanas are another popular 90s trend that is coming back this season and I’m totally here for it! There are a bunch of different ways to wear these trendy little pieces, but I just chose to go with this classic look. You can also style them with a high ponytail or even wear it as a neck scarf. I then paired it with a cozy lilac cardigan and my favorite white cargo pants for a simple, but pulled-together look.

90s Shoulder Bags:

Lastly, small shoulder bags are another closet staple of mine this season! They are the perfect accessory to any simple winter outfit. I have seen these little shoulder bags start to gain popularity all the way back in spring, but they are still just as popular as we head into winter! I paired this snake-skin orange bag with a complimentary white and blue sweater. I then dressed the look down with some baggy boyfriend jeans and sneakers. This is one of my go-to winter outfits when I want to be comfortable, yet look styled.

Hopefully, these winter accessories gave you some inspiration as we head into the new season! Thanks for reading!

Spicing Up Your Wardrobe With Denim

My favorite time of the year is finally here … fall! If you know me you know I absolutely LOVE fall! I love it all! Fall colors, hot apple cider, apple orchards, and of course pumpkin patches. Not only do I love fall and all of the fun fall festivities, but I also love fall fashion. Now that we move into the colder months it’s time to break out all of your favorite layering pieces and jackets. Today I wanted to share with you three of my favorite ways to wear denim this fall.

Fall into fall in fashion this year by wearing your favorite denim dress! I paired my favorite denim dress with a basic white long sleeve to layer this outfit and to stay warm as the weather begins to get colder. To spice this outfit up, I decided to pair it with my favorite white fall booties. This outfit is simple, yet so cute & fashionable.

One of my go-to fall layering pieces is jean jackets! They are so cute & they are a great way to add a layer to your outfit. This fall I’ve been noticing lots of neutral-color jean jackets and I have to say I’m obsessed! Since this is one of my new favorite trends, I had to show you guys how I style it! For this outfit, I wore a basic grey turtleneck top, a natural cream jean jacket, and my favorite pair of jeans. I also wanted this look to be a little more casual so I decided to throw on my white sneakers. This look is super comfy & easy to recreate this fall.

I’m obsessed with this last look! The fall shades of brown are in, so of course, I had to try it out! To create this look I wore my favorite seamless brown tank, added my cropped denim jacket, & a pair of black high-waisted distressed jeans. To dress this outfit up I decided to wear my white booties. This will definitely be an outfit I will be rocking this fall and I hope all three of these outfits inspire you to bring some spice to your wardrobe this fall!

Top 3 Shoe Trends for Fall

With fall in full swing, there's no doubt one of our favorite things about the season's change is revamping our wardrobe with some new shoes and boots. While the fall/winter NYC Fashion Week runway showed us many of the trends we'll see in the upcoming months, today I wanted to share my personal favorite 3 fall shoe trends to come straight off the runway from this season.

From boots to heels to flats, the trendy chain details on bags and our chunky jewelry have now been brought down to our feet. The chain links add such a nice touch to shoes and also add that effect of making them look more expensive than we probably bought them for.

When I think of chains on shoes, Gucci's Princetown Lamb Fur Mules instantly come to mind. Plus, I found an amazing lookalike which I'll picture below! Many trends are always derived from these luxury brands and enter the trickle-down effect to many retailers. I'm specifically loving the statement on these mules, not to mention there are so many ways to style these shoes. So far, my white chain mules have totally ended up being my favorite shoes this fall.

As a fresh alternative to the other neutral picks in your closet, white booties have become the new taupe. Although I personally don't think taupe booties will ever go out of style, white has definitely taken over its place this year!

I love the way that white booties can brighten up an outfit and how they bring those fresh, bright, and cozy vibes to an outfit. Just as much as black, white is neutral too. They make an ensemble feel fashion-forward and different. I personally love the way they look with florals for the fall. I've been wearing them non-stop and you can see the few different ways I've styled them below:

The last trend I'm loving is knee-high boots. Tall boots have been a consistent trend for almost a decade now. They are an accessory that works for so many body shapes, sizes, and types. Knee-high boots were a must-have from 2010-2015, but the trend came very tired, and slowly rose to thigh-high boots for the last few years. I'm happy to tell you that knee-high boots are definitely back, and this time, designers and retailers are focusing on the heel height. Snakeskin and crocodile texture are specifically trending in this style, but I'm going to stick to classic tan suede.

In the past knee-high boots were typically styled with short dresses, scarves, and cardigans. While some of these are still trendy, keep in mind the heel height has changed, making us appear slimmer and taller. This year, style your knee-high boots with a chunky sweater and some denim, or even a fur-knit coat and leggings. You can also go the boho route too, and wear your leggings under a skirt to keep your legs warmer. Remember to save your thigh-high boots for dresses and skirts!

As always, thanks for reading and I hope some of my favorite shoe trends will give you some inspiration on how to rock your own runway this fall and winter! Don't forget to check out your local Plato's Closet for these up-and-coming shoe trends this year at up to 70% less of the regular retail price!
