2020 Handbag Trends

No outfit is complete without the right bag. Your bag can truly make or break your look. We use them for basically everything, like carrying makeup, sunscreen at the beach, holding snacks, and sometimes we use them just as a fashion piece or to hold our wallets. I am the type of girl who mainly uses the same three staple bags because they match every single outfit I own and they never go out of style. But as of lately, it's been hard to not want to give in and shop for all the great trends and cute bags that are out now for spring. Here are a few bag trends that I am loving for 2020!

1) WOVEN NATURAL FIBERS

Take your accessories back to their roots by showcasing the bag made out of their original fibers! This creates a way to add some fun to your accessories. Most of the time these bags will be lightweight and flimsy, which makes them perfect during the spring/summer warmth to carry all your belongings in. These playful bags always look handmade and remind me of DIY arts and crafts! They are usually bright and colorfully decorated.

I loved this one for the pom-pom effect and tassel detail. It's a nice bright white, and like wearing double the accessory. It's not uncommon to see these woven cotton bags come in the form of a tote or a clutch.

2) CHAIN STRAPS

Chain straps are back! Well... I feel as though they have always been a timeless detail about a bag, but right now you see them everywhere. Gucci and Chanel are known right now for their chain crossbody bags. With tons of other bloggers always strutting around with their designer bags, many retailers have jumped on the bandwagon of creating lookalike styles for the consumer who may not want to spend as much. That's why I loved this bag! It feels super high-end to me, but I only paid $9 for it!

I really loved the sleek, modern look of this bag. Not only will a chain give the bag something a little extra, but it will be sure to glam up your outfit without having to wear many accessories that day.

3) RATTAN BAGS

Straw bags make the perfect spring/summer bag. They're fit for a day at the park, beach, or even the office, and SO cute. Looks like for spring 2020 these bags are back and blooming! I've already seen them all over retailers, and I am perfectly okay with this. There's a straw bag for any taste from small handhelds, rounded, crossbodies, totes, and more.

I picked up a smaller simple tote bag and added my own personal flair to it with this adorable pom-pom keychain. I’ve seen other straw bags styled with cute handkerchiefs and more! There are many different ways to add your personal style to these fun bags.

Over the last few years, I've started to love handbags more and more. I've also learned to truly understand their importance when it comes to completing your look and its functionality. Make sure to take a swing by your local Plato's Closet and see what awesome trends you can spot! As always, thanks for reading!

Trends from Plato's Closet (Haul)

Hey girl! We are now in the awkward phase of winter almost finally ending where some days are cold and some are warm. Weeks like this can be tricky to dress for so I stopped by Plato’s Closet to find some fresh transition pieces for my closet! Keep reading to see what I found!

All winter I searched for a grey knee-length formal coat. You know what I’m talking about... Like those firm, formal-looking coats from Aritzia, except preferably a version that isn’t $300! So you can imagine my surprise when I found a perfect dupe for what I was looking for at Plato’s Closet! I found a super comfy knee-length grey jacket/cardigan. The one I found isn’t as formal as the coat I was envisioning in my head (it’s more of a casual cardigan), but I’m so happy with it! I’ve already worn it to school twice since I picked it up!

And guess how much it was? $25, yes, please! It is the perfect transition jacket that isn’t too heavy but can keep you warm on chilly days and not too hot on warm days! Check out Plato’s Closet if you are wanting a fresh jacket for spring because some stores have their jackets on sale right now!

The second piece I found was these white jegging/jeans! That’s a yes from me, thanks! I have had a pair of white denim on my wardrobe wishlist for quite some pair but hadn’t found a pair that fit right. These pants are a cross between jeans and jeggings. They don’t have front pockets but they look like jeans; they are so soft and it barely feels like you're wearing denim! They are originally from Fashion Nova and I got them for only $15! That’s what I'm talking about!

I’ve been so obsessed with selling my clothes that I never wear anymore and putting that money towards new clothes! Who doesn’t want to be able to constantly update and change up their closet without breaking the bank?

Have you picked up anything lately from Plato’s Closet? If not, stop in soon! Talk to you next time!

Trendy Jacket Layerings

Cold winter months are all about the layers. One of my favorite ways to stay warm and fashionable is by styling jackets. Here are some of my favorite ways to layer over a basic outfit. You can see that the look changes with the different jacket combos. All of these looks are super easy to recreate and you might even have many of the items hanging in your closet. If not, check out Plato's Closet!

Outfit 1:

For my first look, I wore black distressed jeans, a grey turtleneck, a gold layered necklace, and black boots. To elevate this outfit, I chose to layer my favorite puffer coat and pom hat. This outfit is perfect for a winter photoshoot with your besties!

Outfit 2:

To create my second look, I kept the same basic jeans and top. I’m a huge fan of teddy coats, they are so warm and comfy. I really like a pop of color especially in the winter, so this maroon teddy coat is perfect! However, any teddy coat or sherpa will do. Now you’re ready for brunch with your girlfriends!

Outfit 3:

All you need to create this last look is to add a denim jacket. I choose to wear a cropped jean jacket to create my look, but any jean jacket would work for this outfit. Beanies have been super popular this winter season, so grab any beanie to add another layer to your winter outfit! This look is perfect for school or getting coffee with friends.

I hope these outfits give you some ideas on how to layer clothing to stay warm and trendy during these cold winter months!

On A Mission - Lifestyle

Happy New Year readers! We’re fresh into the new year and this is the time most people buckle down and get to their goals! Whether it's committing to the gym, networking more, or even starting a new blog, people are definitely on the go. When you have a busy day ahead of you, it's easy to make your outfit not a priority, but that doesn't have to be the case. I’m here to show you three different outfits that are super cute for busy days of running around.

Outfit 1:

This outfit is the epitome of comfy meets cute. Pair a matching jogger suit with classic sneakers such as Chucks and you can’t go wrong. Up this style by finding a suit with a print on it such as this one to really make a statement. This outfit is perfect for those on-the-go days that consist of heavy commuting and a lot of running around.

Outfit 2:

This second outfit is comfortable enough to run around in, but still stylish enough to meet a friend for lunch in between errands. The jeans are cropped and flared which adds a touch of attitude, especially paired with a leather jacket and booties. For the bag, I decided a mini backpack would look perfect with it.

Outfit 3:

For this last outfit, I put my twist on the trendy camel coat by taking the same style coat, but in a bright green color. Because of how bold this is, I opted to have the rest of the outfit in darker, neutral tones like greys and blacks. This is a great outfit to bring out your favorite hoodie and pair it with a dad hat. The great thing about dad hats is that you can have cute messages on them; such as mine rooting for women empowerment! For the shoes, I just kept things simple with grey sneakers.

Use these outfits for inspiration on what to wear for those busy days ahead of you. Remember, the world is your runway and being on the go doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your outfit. Happy New Year and happy goal chasing!

Atheisure Apparel Looks

We have all had those days when we feel like rolling out of bed and just wearing our pajamas for the rest of the day. Even though I love fashion and often look forward to planning outfits, I still sometimes just want to be super comfortable while still looking cute. Luckily, athleisure has become popular in the past couple of years and now you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style! I have put together five super cute and comfy athleisure looks to possibly inspire your next lazy day outfit!

Outfit 1:

These patterned joggers are hands down the most comfortable pants in my closet, yet they are still super cute! I typically wear patterned pants like these with a simple tank top and some slides or tennis shoes. For a monochrome look, I wore a navy blue tank top to match the different blue shades in the pants.

Outfit 2:

When I thought of athleisure I used to only think of leggings or joggers, but there are so many other ways to wear the athleisure trend. For this look, I wanted to be bold, so I paired a tight cheetah print skirt with an oversized red sweatshirt to balance the patterns and colors. Cheetah print and red are always a good combination! To complete this sporty look, I went for some white sneakers, a black backpack, and a half-bun. Not only can you incorporate skirts into athleisure but also fun and bold patterns!

Outfit 3:

This is my favorite way to wear athleisure; sweatpants with a feminine or dainty top. Following the classic fashion rule of loose on bottom and fitting on top (or vice versa), I paired this fitted cardigan (from Plato’s!) with these loose gray sweatpants. I chose a white top and gray sweatpants to create a super chic neutral look. Then, I added a dainty bag to further juxtapose the athletic pants and add a pop of color. It’s a super simple look, yet comfy and cute!

Outfit 4:

When picking your next athleisure look, you don’t have to play it safe with color. Instead, try creating a unique color palette for your outfit. These fun color combinations can make comfy clothes look super put together. For this outfit, I paired these light pink joggers with a sage green sweatshirt. I finished off the pastel look with a simple and chic baby blue bag!

Outfit 5:

Lastly, if you prefer to wear neutrals then try incorporating fun patterns. Although subtle, the floral pattern on these leggings add a cute detail to this otherwise simple outfit. I wore a slouchy grey top, my favorite black sneakers, and a white bag to tie everything together. Not only is this outfit practical and comfortable due to the leggings, but also stylish from the floral details! The perfect combination of style and comfort.

Hopefully, you guys got some inspiration from these outfits! Remember that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style, athleisure is here to help you feel like you’re wearing pajamas all day while looking super stylish!
