What colors will be hot for spring 2012?
The global authority on color, Pantone, has revealed what colors designers say will be hot for the upcoming spring 2012 season.
Bright colors including tangerine tango (orange), solar power (yellow), margarita (a yellow-green mix), bellflower (purple), cockatoo (a blue-green mix), cabaret (rosy red) and sweet lilac (a light pink-purple mix) are among those designers at New York's Fashion Week say will be most popular.
"Consumers look to spring for renewed energy, optimism and the promise of a brighter day," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "They have learned how color can help them alter a mood and provide the vitality and enthusiasm that enables them to experiment with new looks and color combinations."
Neutrals, such as driftwood (a grey-beige mix) and starfish (khaki) will still be popular as well, especially when paired with some of the season's more vibrant hues.
Those who want to stay on top of the latest trends can save money and get a head start by combing consignment and other stores that specialize in used clothing throughout the fall and winter for items that feature these soon-to-be popular colors.
