Chanel designer launches affordable online collection

Legendary Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld has launched a new, lower priced collection of his designs on Net-A-Porter.com.

The line, Karl by Karl Lagerfeld, will include items such as leather motorcycle jackets and vests, tailored suits, skinny pants and feminine dresses, according to PhillyBurbs.com. Predominate colors include black, white and metallic silver.

Accessories such as attachable collars, biker gloves, shoes and sunglasses will also be available.

The 70-piece collection will range in price from $25 to $1,300. While this may seem like a lot, it is still significantly less expensive than other Lagerfeld designs.

Net-A-Porter.com will have the exclusive rights to the collection for a month before Lagerfeld can offer the pieces on other Lagerfeld sites, according to BBC.

This is not the first time the iconic designer offered a more affordable option for his fans. The news outlet reports that in 2004, he designed a line for the popular discount retailer H&M.

"This is a great way to make their brands appear more accessible without risking damage to the perceived exclusivity of their other offline collections," fashion analyst Isabel Cavill told the BBC.

While designer collections like this are beyond exciting for many budget-minded fashionistas, others prefer shopping at stores that sell used brand name clothing to get the biggest bang for their fashion dollar every day of the year.
